SCHOOL OF ARCHITECTURE, BUILDING & DESIGN
OVERALL REFLECTION
Throughout this module, I had learnt a lot of new things that are like unlocking a door to a world where every structure tells a story. It's a journey through time, exploring how civilizations, cultures, and technologies have shaped our built environment.
The evolution of architectural styles, from ancient marvels like the Pyramids of Giza to the sleek lines of modern skyscrapers, reflects not just aesthetic choices but societal values, beliefs, and advancements. It's fascinating to see how architectural movements emerged in response to cultural shifts, political changes, and technological innovations. Theories in architecture challenge us to think beyond mere structures; they encourage us to consider the impact of architecture on communities, the environment, and our daily lives.
Studying this field isn't just about memorizing dates or styles; it's about understanding the language of spaces, materials, and proportions. It's about deciphering the messages embedded in the design choices. As I explore this field, I realize that architecture isn't just about creating physical structures; it's about crafting experiences, shaping identities, and influencing behaviors. It's about the interplay between function and form, aesthetics and practicality, tradition and innovation.
Besides that, I find myself appreciating all the module coordinator's ability to transform complex architectural concepts into engaging narratives. Their passion for the subject illuminates every lecture, making the history and theory of architecture come alive. They often incorporate real-life examples, case studies, and even interactive sessions, making the learning experience immersive and memorable.
This journey through architecture's history and theory has widened my perspective, allowing me to see buildings not just as static entities but as dynamic storytellers ingrained in the fabric of our lives. It's a constant reminder that behind every structure, there's a narrative waiting to be discovered, a history waiting to be unveiled, and a theory waiting to be understood.
